In addition to its educational work the Carpenters’ Company is committed to supporting, promoting and encouraging woodworking crafts and those working in the profession.
Institute of Carpenters
The Carpenters’ Company has strong links with the Institute of Carpenters. The Institute was founded in 1890 to oversee training for carpenters and joiners and to maintain standards and traditional skills.
The Institute continues to oversee exam syllabuses and competitions, and promote its vocational craft courses.
Competitions and awards
The Company also supports the craft of carpentry through sponsorship of the annual Carpenters’ Craft Competition and Wood Awards.
International links
The Company has close ties with the oldest Livery Company in North America, the Carpenters’ Company of the City and County of Philadelphia.
